Re: Aurora MIDI controller

You don't "need" an external sound card. It depends on what you are trying to accomplish. Yes, if you want to have a separate audio channel for your headphones, you need a two channel card. Do you need an external? That depends on how bad ass your laptop is (assuming you are using a laptop...

Re: Online Store is Now Open \ Order the aurora224

RCUS, Thanks for the questions. 1. You are correct in your assertion that the control software for aurora makes the output look like any other midi device, so any software that wants to use the midi software will just see a midi device, per your midi yoke settings. 2. Regarding the top panel, we dec...

Re: Drivers

Not to get off topic, but yes we do intend to ship anywhere people want, as long as we can get a price that is acceptable. By the way, when we build these, we program the USB device to "appear" under the name "aurora224". Is that at all important when writing a driver for this US...

Re: Compatibility with external Audio Interfaces (Sound Cards) ?

You have basically described the setup you see in the video. It worked well for us. Shouldn't be a problem for you either.

In retrospect, we probably should have told you what sound card we were using. But it seemed like a case of TMI at the time.

Re: Will it work with GarageBand?

Sorry but we aren't familiar with GarageBand? Does it use midi or another interface? If it does take midi commands, it probably will work, assuming you can get the PD patch to run correctly.

Re: Modul8 Support?

Does Modul8 have MIDI learn? If so this should work just fine. You will still need to run the MAX or PD patches to translate the serial stream into proper MIDI info.

Re: Linux Support?

We have not tested PD in Linux, but we know PD supports Linux, so yes it should work. We don't have any drivers yet, so you need to use the patches in order to use Aurora (for now). By the way, if you do eventually get this thing working in Linux, make sure you post your results and link your patche...

Re: Where are the Cue / Pause / Play buttons?

Though we don't have buttons specifically placed for those functions, remember that you can map your MIDI buttons to whatever functions in the software you want. Not the perfect solution, but its only 7 x 10 in...
